Credentials and Qualifications
- Mr. Maddox is well known throughout the tri state area. He speaks to thousands of young people every year about the dangers of drug and alcohol usage and chemical addiction.
- Mr. Maddox was featured in a front page article in the Today section of the Charleston Gazette that talked about his efforts with local youth groups on the dangers of alcohol and drugs. He also received a “Smile” for lecturing youth groups about the dangers of addiction.
- Mr. Maddox is a sociologist with a B.A. in Sociology and Psychology from Morris Harvey College, now the University of Charleston, and studied advanced chemistry and biology at West Virginia University and joined the chemistry fellowship while at WVU. He also did other graduate work at the College of Graduate Studies.
- Mr. Maddox qualified and worked as a dental technician, pharmacy technician, and draftsman of architecture and structural steel detailing. He is a retired mental health associate.
- Mr. Maddox receives some of his information from the WVDHHR Division of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse, the Kanawha Justice Services, WV Prevention Resource Center, the WV State Police, the WV Medical Examiner Office, The Disease of Alcoholism by David L. Ohms MD, Time Magazine volume 170 #3/2007 "How we get addicted" Michael D. Lemonick, "Alcohol and the Teen Brain" 2007 MADD, The Addicted Brain by Dr. Harold Urschel, Dr. Phil McGraw, Dr. Frank Lawliss and Catalogues from the Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage, California, and draws from his real life experiences.
